Due to unanticipated construction delays related to seasonal and weather issues, the rental application period for Sandywoods Farm has been moved back to an unspecified date. You can expect to receive the application packet in your mailbox within the next several weeks. Phoenix Property Management, the company managing the rent-up, will be mailing out the packets via the US Postal service, so keep an eye out for their return address on any large envelopes you may receive. Instructions for filling out the forms will be included in the application packet.

In the meantime, please continue to visit our website for periodic progress reports, construction photo updates, and general information about Sandywoods. Should you have any questions, please feel free to click on the "contact us" page and send a question or comment. We'll get back to you just as soon as we can.

Sandywoods FarmWe will begin accepting applications for the Sandywoods Farm rentals at the beginning of March. As mentioned before, we will be sending out an announcement to let you know when the applications will become available. Thanks for your phone calls and emails. It's wonderful to know so many of you are truly interested in the project and in becoming residents of the community! And thanks to all of you who have generously offered your help! We will definitely be in touch!

Today feels like Spring and things are hopping out at the Farm. So much activity!! In fact, the first walls of the Community Building are being erected today! This centerpiece building is located on Muse Way, our "Main Street" right next to the three mixed-use buildings and when complete will house a commercial kitchen and plenty of room for meetings, dinners, classes and performances (we're putting a stage into this building just for this purpose). In the mixed-use buildings, workers are plastering, painting and tiling in both the retail spaces and the one-bedroom rentals located on the second floor. These second-floor units will be the first to be made available for occupancy, with a move-in date perhaps as soon as May. We will keep you posted!

Sandywoods FarmOn December 17, 2009, we hosted our first site visit to give interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the project and to view the construction site first hand. Donning hard-hats on the bitter cold, but sunny Saturday morning, 50 visitors toured the site, starting from the existing ceramics studio and culminating in a walk through of one of the three mixed-use buildings and the two apartments located on the second floor. We hope this visit was informative and convincing to those interested in becoming residents.

Construction continues to move forward at a brisk pace. Half of the 33 rental buildings are up and in various stages of construction. Windows are going in, exterior siding is being installed, porches are being added, the last foundations are being laid, and interior finish work is commencing. When completed, there will be 16 three-bedroom single-family houses, 12 two-bedroom duplexes, 4 one-bedroom handicap accessible units, and 6 one-bedroom, second floor apartments.

All rentals will be equipped with new kitchen appliances, insulated windows, high-efficiency heat pumps, and washer/dryer hook-ups. Each unit has a full heated basement providing a large workspace with plenty of height and extra windows for day light. Included in the monthly rent are all utilities costs.

We are very excited about this arts and agricultural development and the possibilities it presents to residents and non-residents alike. The live/work affordability of the rental housing, the shared work, rehearsal and performance space, as well as ability to create, present and exhibit new work in a supportive environment is truly a unique opportunity that we hope you will embrace.
